Influence of Oxytocin and Vasopressin on Plasma Glucose and Free Fatty Acid Levels in the Tortoise

Abstract
|
|
|
1. The effects of Oxytocin and Vasopressin upon the plasma levels of glucose and free fatty acids in the tortoise (Amyda japonica) were investigated.
2. Both Oxytocin and Vasopressin group (lU/kg, i.v.) showed no significant difference in the glucose level from the control group(0 6% Saline only).
3. As for the plasma FFA, Vasopressin exerted no effect, while Oxytocin showed a slight tendency to increase 13 min. after administration.
